Description

This transparent hydroponic planter uses soilless cultivation to invite you to observe the growth of the entire plant, both the leaves and the roots.In soilless cultivation, plants feed on nutrients dissolved in water. That’s why the CitySens transparent planter includes quality nutrients designed for soilless cultivation, also known as hydroponics. The colour and sifting of the glass protects the roots from ultraviolet (UV) light.

The plant’s support is manufactured on demand using 3D printing at the CitySens studio in Tarragona with TuMaker NX Pro Direct Drive HR 3D printing technology, developed in Irun, Gipuzkua.

Each plant stand is made up of 108 300-micron-high layers of polylactic acid (PLA) biopolymer blended with 40% wood.

The use of biopolymer with wood gives the piece an organic texture and a sweet smell reminiscent of coffee grounds or wet wood.

To manufacture the transparent planters, we collaborated with Juan Righetti, a glass artisan based in l’Empordà, Girona. In his Upcycling Bottles project, Juan uses glass bottles that he collects from different bars and restaurants in the area. He cleans them and transforms them through an artisanal process into objects of great value.

Indications for use
Place the stem of the plant inside the stand, with the roots clean of substrate inside the clear pot.

Add water to cover the roots, without the water touching the stem of the plant.

Adds CitySens nutrients in the ratio of 4 drops of nutrients per glass of water. The plant takes food from nutrients dissolved in water.

Oxygenate or change water with nutrients once a month. Roots need oxygen for proper development.

In the case of import/export, you should bear in mind that the product may be subject to taxes and tariffs, charged by your country’s customs agency upon delivery of the package(s).
