galula

Galula is a reflection of the duo Mendes’Macedo personalities. The two designers have teamed up to give a fun and happy character to the everyday objects.

In 2011 they started to sketch and have ideas for pieces and products they imagined for their homes and their friends homes. They put the ideas into practice and decided to explore the good furniture industry and production of Portuguese cork.

Galula is the Portuguese word for something tasty to eat, the designers of Galula don’t want people eating the pieces, but instead want to create a huge appetite for them!

Along with the functional and creative design they give their products the best production quality, materials and finishes so people can take better profitability of the product and enjoy it at its best way for a long time. Galula products are proudly designed and produced in Portugal and all of them have version in several bright happy colors, that combine well with neutral colors also available in our collection.

Their motivation is the smile and the happiness of the people. They want to prove that beyond functional design can be fun! Follow the Fun-ction is the motto!

Ecodesigners

Mendes’Macedo is a product design studio based in Porto, Portugal. Filipa Mendes and Gustavo Macedo are the design duo behind this design studio.

They met each other at the design school they attend, where they had opportunity to make projects together and realize that their similarities and differences in aesthetic terms, both technical and formal work well together. When they finished their studies, they formed the Galula brand, which creates pieces that liked to have in their homes.

Under their surnames mendes’macedo which named the studio, they explore other concepts and collaborate with other brands and studios.

They have as inspiration refined and minimalist forms always combined with a functional character and attention to detail.
